Designer, perfectionist, eager to learn, hard worker, creative, sociable but calm
My name is Leonie van Leeuwen and I’ve been into creating things as long as I can remember. This started at my parental cheese farm where I was always busy drawing, crafting and building huts. Later in life I continued this passion for creating things by following the Product Design program at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
For my graduation assignment I found Studio Mariska Jagt where I graduated on the subject of acoustics. Studio Mariska Jagt is originally an Interior design company. With my arrival and assistance, the product design department was created in which designs were made that varied from furniture to lighting. I worked for four fantastic and inspiring years at Studio Mariska Jagt, not only learning a lot about product design, but also about visualisation and interior design.
I am an enthusiastic creative designer. A tad perfectionistic and stubborn, but in a good way. At first, I might seem a bit shy, but once you get to know me I’m anything but. I’m a passionate, hardworking and loyal person who is always ready to help. I am always looking for inspiration, novelties and trends.
I like to design products that are serene and hint to nature and I prefer to work with pure and real materials. I think it is important that the product properly fulfils its function while being attractive and surprising at the same time. When designing a product you have the opportunity to create a special experience for the consumer and I like to make sure it is as special as possible.
In my spare time I workout often: I do fitness at the gym and when the weather’s nice outside I’ll go running. I also maintain three horses. I ride these recreational/western-style but preferably I cross through the Meadow. In addition I like to paint in assignment.
